Met The Maestro a few years before his passing. Saw Mark Farner with Dick Wagner's Bossmen at a small concert venue in Flushing, MI New Years Eve, 1967. Dick introduced Mark as the newest member and then Mark sank Heartbreaker live for the first time. I told this story for years and when meeting Dick asked if this really happened; Dick said yes. However, Dick did not know that Lany, the Bossmen’s bass player, had forgotten his guitar. My friend, the club’s DJ, told me about the Bass and my friend Bruce and I rushed to Bruce’s house to get his Bass. Lany promptly dropped the Bass when he tried to strap it on. Dick stated: “I do not remember that.” I commented would Lany had told Dick about his huge mistake. Bruce’s Bass was used when Grand Fund Railroad recorded their first LP, On Time.
